Indulge in the Rich Flavors of Authentic Butter Chicken with Amul Butter
Ingredients:
- 1 kg boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon
red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 large tomato, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch piece ginger, minced
- 1 can (400 ml) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (Amul Butter)
- 1 tablespoon Kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
- Salt to taste
- For serving: Naan bread or rice
Instructions:
- Marinate the chicken: In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces, yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, cumin, coriander, red chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or preferably overnight.
- Cook the onions and tomatoes: Heat some oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until softened and golden brown. Stir in the garlic and ginger, and cook for another minute.
- Add the tomatoes: Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato puree, and marinated chicken to the pot. Stir to combine.
- Simmer: Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
- Add cream and butter: Stir in the heavy cream and Amul Butter. Let the mixture simmer for a few more minutes, until the butter melts and the sauce becomes creamy.
- Add Kasuri methi: Stir in the Kasuri methi and adjust the seasoning with salt to taste.
- Serve: Serve the butter chicken hot with naan bread or rice.
Tips:
- For a spicier butter chicken, add more red chili powder or some chopped green chilies.
- You can also add a few tablespoons of water or stock to the sauce if it becomes too thick.
- For a richer flavor, use a combination of ghee and butter.
- Garnish the butter chicken with fresh cilantro or chopped green onions before serving.
